WOMEN HEALTH

Through our Family Health Empowerment, women attend educational sessions where they are trained in nutrition, health and hygiene, literacy, small-scale community agriculture, and craftsmanship. Participants who display consistent attendance receive a month’s worth of food to help supplement their diet at home. Not only does this provide incentive for women to come and learn, but it also helps Sachabu Foundation address the nutritional deficiencies of children who are not enrolled in school. Caretakers, especially those who are pregnant, are provided with vitamins for both themselves and their children. All of the participants’ children under 11 years old are monitored through their Body Mass Index to strive toward a reduction in malnutrition and protect healthy development.

The program is specifically aimed at realization of both individual and collective self-esteem and inner strength for marginalized and socially excluded women and adolescent girls through innovative community practices.

The program identifies adolescent girls and women from the community and develops them into Change Agents, who in turn actively contribute to the community mobilization process.

A total of 210 women and girl children were benefitted and empowered through various interventions under the (Sachabu Women Initiative) program.

165 girls and women received health care support at their door step. Many more were provided with adequate knowledge of reproductive and sexual health issues.

Over 50 women and adolescent girls were trained to be “change agents” to further serve as Community health Educators, Health Volunteers and peer Educators in their communities
